# Form2Workflow (form2wf)

> Form2Workflow (form2wf) turns n8n workflows into the backend for any website: build forms and data pages that read and write through your workflows, then paste one script tag. No server code.

Form2Workflow sits between a website and n8n. It shows forms and data pages on any HTML page, checks who is submitting, and forwards the data to your n8n workflows, which act as the backend (send email, write to a database or spreadsheet, call an AI model). Webhook URLs and secret headers stay on form2wf's servers and never reach the browser.

## How it works

1. **Build the form** in the dashboard: fields, columns, repeatable groups, file uploads, themes. Or let an AI agent build it through the MCP server.
2. **Connect a workflow**: paste an n8n webhook URL, or connect your n8n server and pick the workflow from a list.
3. **Paste the snippet** into any page:

```html
<div id="f2wf-contact"></div>
<script src="https://form2wf.com/f2wf.js"></script>
<script>
  f2wf.load("your-org", "contact");
</script>
```

## What people build

- **Contact and intake forms**: quote requests, applications and bookings sent straight to email, a CRM or a spreadsheet.
- **Data pages with full CRUD**: an onload webhook lists records into tables and fields; buttons and row actions create, update and delete them, each through the workflow you choose (any HTTP method, with `{{row.id}}`-style URL templates).
- **Client portals**: login-protected forms with form users, roles and per-form access; the workflow receives the signed-in user.

## For AI agents

- MCP server: `POST https://form2wf.com/mcp` with an organization API key (`f2w_…`). Setup: https://form2wf.com/docs/mcp.md, tools: https://form2wf.com/docs/mcp-tools.md
- Documentation index: https://form2wf.com/llms.txt (every page also as Markdown; all of it in https://form2wf.com/llms-full.txt)
- Public API: https://form2wf.com/openapi.json

## Questions

### Do I have to use n8n?

Forms post JSON to any URL that accepts a webhook, so Make, Zapier or your own API work too. form2wf is built around n8n: you can connect your n8n server to pick workflows from a list, and the docs include ready-made n8n recipes.

### Can a form show data, not just collect it?

Yes, and change it too: full CRUD. An onload webhook loads records into fields and tables when the page opens, and buttons and row actions create, update and delete them through your workflows. You get a working data page without writing a backend.

### Does my n8n need to be reachable from the internet?

Yes. form2wf calls your webhook from its own servers, and the hosted service only calls public addresses. If you run form2wf yourself next to n8n, the organization owner can allow calls to addresses on the local network.

### What does my workflow receive?

A JSON body with the submitted values under data, plus metadata (time, page origin, browser) and who is signed in when the form requires sign-in. Files arrive as multipart uploads. The webhook docs show every payload.

### Can visitors log in?

Yes, two ways. Verified forms let visitors sign in with their Microsoft account, with no accounts for you to manage, optionally only from the email domains you choose. Protected forms use form users you create, by user or by role. Either way form2wf checks access on every request and tells your workflow who it is.

### Can an AI agent build forms for me?

Yes. form2wf has an MCP server: give Claude, Cursor or any MCP client an API key and it can create forms, wire webhooks, read submissions and manage access, limited to the access level you choose.

### Where is my data stored?

form2wf stores your form definitions and a log of each submission so you can see what was sent and what your workflow answered. Your records live wherever your workflows keep them: a database, a spreadsheet, your CRM.
